Combining Our Strengths in the Fight Against Cancer

Translational cancer research is a field that builds upon many of BEAM’s existing strengths and pulls from a variety of disciplines, including fluid mechanics, biomechanics, tissue engineering, biomaterials, biochemistry, and more. Our researchers work closely with clinicians, basic scientists, and physician-scientists to ensure their work stays relevant to patient application.

Several areas of focus for the department are the use of electroporation, tissue engineering, and microfluidic devices in the treatment of glioblastoma, the deadliest form of brain cancer, among other methodologies. Our faculty develop diagnosis and treatment plans using existing and emerging technologies.
